East End Green near Hertford
Approaching the Cole Green Way from East End Green one passes the house called Hazeldene which a local told me once belonged to Freddie Forsythe, author of The Day of the Jackal. The quintessential English country scene couldn't be more distant from the subject of that book.

Cole Green way crosses minor road, East End Green
The Cole Green Way runs from Welwyn Garden City to Hertford along a former railway line that was active from 1858 until 1951 for passengers and until 1962 for freight.

Shared Use Route: Horses straight ahead
Pedestrians walk down a slope, and the horses must negotiate steps. To me, counter-intuitive. The Cole Green Way follows the track of a long-dismantled railway.
