Brickendon Brook in Hertford (1)
The photograph was taken looking upstream along Brickendon Lane, only about 70 metres upstream of the brook's confluence with the River Lee. Worryingly the bed of the brook here in March is totally dry. The long metal bars protect the culvert that runs under Horns Mill Road from large items of debris, while the dense mesh grille is a platform for maintenance workers. See Image for a view in the opposite direction.
