Priorities

Reduce incidents of violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town centre (Castle Ward) on Friday and Saturday evenings, between 8pm and 4am.

Response (15 Mar 2024)

Officers have conducted patrols at key times to deter disorder in the night time economy and provide reassurance to the public.
Targeted patrols, use of police dispersal powers, patrol plans all drawn up by officers, along with engagement events and Project Vigilant patrols to combat potential offences against women.
Officers have worked with Trading Standards and the licencing authority to conduct checks at premises. Vapes have been seized.
Officers have also responded to reports from the public of suspected drug use in the town centre. This work is on-going.
