Ware station
Although the rest of the Hertford East branch line is double track, there has only ever been a single track through Ware station. There have been three accidents here, the first in 1882 in which two passengers, but no railway staff, were injured and fortunately there were no fatalities - see the detailed article (written by Rob Candlish) on the "Our Hertford and Ware" website http://www.ourhertfordandware.org.uk/page_id__148.aspx . In the 1927 accident, no fatalities occurred, but a total of 21 passengers sustained injuries or shock; the four enginemen were also injured, two of them seriously; and the two guards suffered shock and were slightly hurt http://www.ourhertfordandware.org.uk/page_id__149.aspx . There was a third accident in 1940 in which 31 people were injured http://www.ourhertfordandware.org.uk/page_id__150.aspx . See also Image, Image and Image (all photographed by Rob Candlish),
