Angerstein Business Park from Angerstein Wharf Branch
The branch railway line to Angerstein Wharf was opened in 1852 named after its promoter, John Angerstein. In 1892 the line was leased to the Southern Railway and eventually passed into the hands of British Railways. No passenger services ever ran and public goods facilities were withdrawn in 1956, but private sidings continue to provide traffic, such as incoming stone and outgoing sea-dredged aggregates. The sides of the train coaches on the extreme right of the image are part of the visiting Pathfinder Tours charter Image The view is towards North Greenwich and Canary Wharf.

New Ikea Building
This large store is being built on the site of a former Sainsbury's superstore which closed and a new one has been built in the New Charlton Business Park. The access road in front is still open to buses heading to and from North Greenwich Tube Station, the O2 Area and the North Greenwich Transit Hub.

Cycle rack at Sainsbury's
Not all supermarkets provide adequate cycle parking, but this one does. This is one of two well-used covered racks outside the Greenwich Peninsula store Image Other shoppers often mistake them for trolley parks and try to force their trolleys into the narrow space between the cycle stands. Update (2017): the store closed in 2015 and was demolished. An IKEA store is planned for the site but it remains to be seen whether they maintain this cycle parking provision.

Rear of Greenwich Sainsbury's
This is not an entrance to the store: the path in the foreground is part of the nature reserve Image I came to photograph it because the store is due to close later in the year, and there is a planning application pending to demolish this building and erect an IKEA store on the site. For the front of the store, see Image

Wind turbines at Sainsbury's
This pair of turbines has been here for several years (since c.2007 I think) and replaced the earlier design Image These look less efficient with a very small surface area, but maybe that's a false impression.
