Carriage in front of 40 Grove Park, Denmark Hill. SE5 8LG in 1900
The house behind the carriage was that of my maternal grandfather Dr John William Ewing (1864-1951) who is mentioned in Who Was Who 1950-51. He was a doctor of divinity in the Baptist Church and held several important positions which included being the President of the London Baptist Association from 1906-7 and 1934-5. This photo was used as a Christmas card, the date 1900 was written in pencil on the card under the photo, which upon closer examination has the number 40 on the right hand gate post (which can also been seen behind the carriage).
