The way into Sunray Gardens
Casino Villa on Denmark Hill was built by John Nash in 1796 for the lawyer, Richard Shaw, who made his fortune from the long trial of Warren Hastings, the Governor-General of India. In the early 20th century the estate had difficulties in finding tenants and the house was demolished in 1906. After the First World War, the Villa’s grounds were used for housing, and the Villa's water gardens were converted into a park, now known as Sunray Gardens. It is a rare survival of the work of the landscape designer, Humphrey Repton, and includes a pond, winding wooded paths and flowerbeds.

Cottage estate on Red Post Hill
Looking rather like it has strayed from some country town, this attractive cottage estate is separated from Red Post Hill by the small green on the left. Up the hill behind is Herne Hill and Brixton whilst down the hill ahead is Dulwich Village.
