St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Poplar Walk
The church stands on the junction with Lowden Road. The building was erected in 1905 and is a simple stock brick building with open pedimented east and west gables and a slate roof. A five-bay round-arched arcade built on the north side was intended to lead to an aisle but this extension has never been made. The architect was probably F. W. Tasker.

The date is assumed to be 11th November 1918.
The photographer unknown.
The eyewitnesstohistory.com website states:
“All over the world on November 11, 1918, people were celebrating, dancing in the streets, drinking champagne, hailing the armistice that meant the end of the war. But at the front there was no celebration.”

St John's Hall, Heron Road
Located on the junction of Heron Road (on the right) and Lowden Road. The building is a late Victorian hall (built about 1880) of traditional brick construction under a pitched slate roof. Although never consecrated, the building was used for worship until 1981, and was originally known as Camberwell St John's Mission. It was able to seat 300 people. The hall was used as a Community Centre from 1990. More recently it has been occupied by a children's nursery. The hall is currently for sale, and is likely to be improved and converted for community use.
