Forest Hill station
Arriving at Forest Hill station, I was pleased to sink into a seat on the Down platform to find that the next Down train was the half-hourly through service to Purley. Whilst waiting for it I was able to take this shot of a Class 378 Overground train on its northbound journey towards Dalston Junction.

Forest Hill railway station, Greater London
Open in 1839 as "Dartmouth Arms" by the London & Croydon Railway on the line from London Bridge to Croydon, the station was renamed "Forest Hill" in 1845.
View north towards Honor Oak Park and London.

Forest Hill station with train, 1991
View southward, towards Norwood Junction, Croydon, Brighton etc.: ex-LB&SCR London Bridge - Norwwod Junction, East and West Croydon, Redhill, Brighton etc. A train of empty EMU stock is running along the Up Fast line ready for the evening rush-hour, headed by a 2-EPB set. This station was almost completely destroyed at 10.55 on 24/6/44 by a V-1 Flying Bomb and it was many years later that a modern replacement was built.
