Peckham Rye
At the junction of Peckham Rye and East Dulwich Grove. It is a contrast to the colourful bustle of Rye Lane, only a short walk to the North.

Peckham: East Dulwich Road
Looking west along East Dulwich Road (A2214) from its crossroads with Peckham Rye (the road, eastern leg, B219). The bus is on Route 37 and is nearing the end of its journey from Putney Heath (Green Man) to Peckham bus station. In former years, this was a very long route with its western terminus at Hounslow.

Peckham Rye
The northern tip of the common. A young monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana - a little over 2 m high) is in the foreground. Old maps show a swimming pool in the background, but this has been demolished.

Carving alongside Nunhead Lane
This is in a line of London plane trees so I assume it was carved from a former London Plane. Peckham Rye Common stretches away beyond. See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4179781 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4404109

Fallen Black Poplar
Many of the trees lining Peckham Rye are now fully mature and old age and storm are taking a steady toll.

William Blake mural at Goose Green
This mural is on a house at the eastern end of Goose Green, East Dulwich. The wording is 'Such were the joys', 'Remember William Blake' and over the archway are the words 'Vision of Angels'. The church is St John the Evangelist on Goose Green. Pam Fray says that the tiger in the bottom right corner refers to Blake's poem "Tyger, tyger burning bright...". Tyger Tyger burning bright" - one of his poems. The Pelican in the left hand corner refers to the publisher of some renowned editions of Blake's work.
The wording between the two parts says "Repainted August 2009 with added Blake poem Echoing Green". The green might well refer to Goose Green and online there is a reference to him as a child in Peckham Rye which is just along the road from Goose Green. Blake was given to having "visions" and Wikipedia states - At the age of eight or ten in Peckham Rye, London, Blake claimed to have seen "a tree filled with angels, bright angelic wings bespangling every bough like stars".
