Gipsy Hill station, misty morning
The platforms at Gipsy Hill were recently extended to take 10-carriage trains rather than the previous 8, as can clearly be seen on the opposite platform: this is taken on the London-bound, up, platform at the point where the extension begins, marked by the narrowness of the platform and, on the extreme left, the driver's information screens positioned where the front of an 8-car train used to be. Silhouetted against the mist in the distance is the Victorian bulk of Salter's Hill School.

Train leaving Gipsy Hill station
Southern electric unit 455 822 departs Gipsy Hill for either London Victoria or London Bridge (I failed to note which, alas). When they were refurbished, Southern's 455s had their end of unit corridor connections removed and cab air conditioning units fitted, somehow making their ungainly front ends even uglier.

Gipsy Hill station: temporary footbridge
Whilst works went on in 2009 to replace the old footbridge and steps to the platforms (seen at the far end of the station) entrance was by a temporary access on the south, up, side of the station and a temporary footbridge led to and from the other, down, platform.
