At various points on this north slope of the Norwood heights, areas of modern Lambeth Council housing are set into the chiefly Victorian urban fabric: to the right, on the skyline, a chimney marks the main body of the Central Hill estate.

Hawke Road, Norwood
Hawke Road offers quite a contrast in the forms housing can take. On the right Lambeth Council's Central Hill estate confidently comes to rest at the foot of its hillside site. On the right a block of probably-post-millennium flats shows all its features. Up the road are big handsome Victorian terraces and villas.
