Parched grass in General Gordon Square
The steep artificial mounds presumably do not retain any moisture and provide a harsh summer environment for the grass in this new urban square.

Remodelled junction
As part of the remodelling of General Gordon Square in 2010/11, the clockwise one-way system around it was revised so that the northern side was pedestrianised and through traffic routed round the east and south sides. This junction at the south-east corner of the square was turned from a mini-roundabout into a traffic-light controlled junction.

This "Tesco Extra" Supermarket is part of the new "Woolwich Central" development at the side of Woolwich New Road. It was opened in November 2012. The low, dark building is the rear of the "Woolwich Central" Sales Development Suite.

Woolwich: Woolwich Equitable House
This imposing Grade II listed building was built as the headquarters of the Woolwich Equitable Building Society in 1935, and overlooks General Gordon Square. The Society's headquarters is now in Bexleyheath, but it retains a branch facility at the building. The upper floors are mainly unused now but are fitted out as a disaster recovery centre.

A row of shops on the east side of the road at the junction with Thomas Street. The nearest three are a dry cleaner (possibly gone out of business as it was shut on a Saturday afternoon), newsagent and hairdresser.

The Tramshed, Woolwich
"Built as a generating station in 1916 and powered trams in the area until they ceased to run in 1953" http://www.glypt.co.uk/tramshedhistory/ , which describes the building's chequered history as factory units, comedy club and theatre; it is "now home to Greenwich & Lewisham Young People’s Theatre". It stands at the corner of Woolwich News Road and Wilmount Street (right).
