National Service Parade
Woolwich Arsenal Firepower National Service Day Parade. On the left of the parade is the Firepower Museum the former Royal Laboratory Department, which controlled the manufacture of ammunition, from design, manufacture, testing and administration.

Woolwich Power Station in 1960
First built at the end of Victoria's reign on the site of a ship repair yard, it was enlarged and modified several times during its life. During construction work in 1912, the timbers of a Tudor warship were discovered. They were said to be from "Sovereign", King Henry VII's ship of 1488. The station closed down in 1978. This early morning picture was taken from a southbound ferry.
