Autumn trees in Woolwich Old Cemetery
Woolwich Cemetery is in two parts, west and east, divided by Rockliffe Gardens. This is the Old Cemetery to the west, founded in 1856 by the Woolwich Burial Board. They laid out the 12-acre site which was formerly part of Plumstead Common. This is the cemetery at the end of September when the autumn colours seemed to be coming early.

Woolwich Cemetery is in two parts, west and east, divided by Rockliffe Gardens. This is the Old Cemetery to the west, founded in 1856 by the Woolwich Burial Board. They laid out the 12-acre site which was formerly part of Plumstead Common.
The inscription on the upright gravestone includes the words "In loving memory of Henry Pryce who peacefully passed away to his eternal rest 17th April 1885 aged 50. Also interred in this cemetery Charles Hesse Judson Pryce, died 31st March 1863 aged 9 months, Ann Mary Maria Pryce who died 29th October 1863 aged 2 years and 8 months, the dearly beloved children of Henry (the above named) and Maria Pryce. Also of Henry William Pryce the dearly beloved son of William H and Annie Pryce who died 11th August 1884 aged 4 months, And Lilian May Pryce who died 19th July 1887 aged 10 weeks, And of Maria Pryce the devoted wife of the above-named Henry Pryce who entered into rest 11th February 1892 in her 72nd year."
