This unassuming small park, tucked away in the back streets between Walworth and Kennington, was for a period in the 19th century home to the Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens housing all sorts of exotic animals. The zoo closed in 1856.

St Paul's Church, Lorrimore Square
Built in the second half of the 1950s, St Paul's church is described by Pevsner as "One of the most ambitious post-war churches in Southwark." It replaced a church of the 1850s destroyed in 1941.

Interior of St Paul's church, Newington
This Anglican church on Lorrimore Square was built in 1959-60, replacing one destroyed in the second world war. The architects being H G Coulter and John Wimbleton. Its unusual constructional form of a reinforced concrete frame supporting a pre-cast timber and steel roof, and coloured windows using the "dalles de verre" technique, led to it being listed grade 2 in 2001 (list entry number 1389258).
