140-152 Walworth Road
Quite a grand composition built c1790 to the designs of Francis Hurlblatt for Henry Penton. The right-hand pedimented section was originally the centre; the pediment at the far end was added in 1978 to restore symmetry. Grade II listed. The 1978 work was done for the Labour Party whose HQ was here until 1997 and who named it John Smith House. It is now a Safestay Hotel.
