Kings Head pub (site of) Cathay Street, Rotherhithe, London, SE16
Believed this was about half way down the street on the east side. Opened 1767 and destroyed by fire in 1832, after which the local authorities would not grant it a licence. Rebuilt as number 10, Love Lane (Cathay Street) and demolished after WWII. In 1952 Cathay House, pictured, was opened being the first post war house in the area. Bottom right corner can be seen part of the remains of The Moated House built 1350.

Bell & Griffin pub (site of) Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16
I do not know the number but it was at the north west corner of Fulford Street from 1752 until 1782 when it burnt down killing two people. Image is interesting as it can locate many other pubs :- where the tree branches can be seen on the right stood the 'Dover Castle' (1805-1931), building on the right is the 'Angel' (1682-current) and opposite that stood the 'Sailors Return' (1757-1831). Beyond that was the 'Black Bull' (1757-1909) followed a few yards by the 'Globe (1805-1892). The last one faced the 'Watermans Arms' (1841-1880) and between that and the Angel stood 'India House' (1805-1883). All in a distance of about 500 yards. To crown it all, within a distance of 100 yards behind the photographer stood five other pubs.

The ex Rotherhithe Police Station
A Georgian building originally owned by a Dr Gaitskell situated at 23 Paradise Street junction with Cathay Street. In the far background, looking down Cathay Street, can be seen the Thames Police boat yard in Wapping. It was a police station from 01-03-1836 until 05-09-1965.

Standard pub (site of) 66, Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16
This stood just past the junction with Braddon Street from 1805 to 1851 and its approximate location would have been where the white post now stands. The building behind the post is the Angel pub.

Wheatsheaf pub (site of) 88, Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16
This stood from just east of Braddon Street sometime before 1805 until 1910 - just the other side of the bushes on the right. It was also a few yards from Seven Step Alley that used to connect Rotherhithe Street to Paradise Street. A little further east, at number 94, stood the 'Grapes' near the junction with Clarkes Orchard (unable to get any reasonable image).

Pynfolds Estate, Rotherhithe, London, SE16
Boarded by West Lane, Paradise Street and Jamaica Road as seen from Cathay Street. In 1541 near this area was a meadow called "Pynfolds Mead" - Pynfold being a place where stray sheep are penned awaiting collection by the owner. On the corner, where the bins are, once stood the "Red Lion" pub at 36 Paradise Street. The pub opened about 1792, closed 1950 and demolished 1961. The estate was built upon Staples Rents, a hall and a school.

Sailors Return pub (site of) Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16
It stood at the south east junction with Cathay Street, I believe it was number 38, from 1757 until 1831. It was also known as the 'Happy Returns' but fell foul of the authorities as they would not renew the licence due to music being played and the belief it was being used as a brothel. The site is now the car park for the Angel pub opposite. Building on the right is Cathay House and behind the trees is Regina Point of the Canada Estate.
