The Ascension painting, St James Bermondsey
The sanctuary of the church has an arched ceiling with a large painting of the Ascension of Christ by John Wood (1844) as an altar piece.

Closed pub on the junction of Southwark Park Road (on the right) and Gataker Street.

Interior of St James's church
The interior of Image James Savage, the architect, modelled the church on that of Greek Temples with galleries round three sides and the organ in the west. John Betjeman considered St James's "the finest church built by the Waterloo Churches Commissioners".
