Peckham: Church of St Mary Magdalene
The original Church of St Mary Magdalene was built here in 1841, but was destroyed by bombing on 21 September 1941. This new church was consecrated in the presence of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on 3 November 1962. St Mary's new church - nearly complete
The new church of St Mary Magdalene, on St Mary's Road, Peckham. For its predecessor on the same site see Image The building, designed by IID Architects, was due to be dedicated by the Bishop of Southwark in May 2011; with six weeks to go the contractors were still at work.
