Saints Peter & Paul
The south door of Our Lady of Sorrows church, Bird in Bush Road - for other views see Image and Image It is not clear why the mosaic in the tympanum is of Saints Peter and Paul rather than St Mary to whom the church is dedicated. The wording in the mosaic is "Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church" - the words of Jesus when he gave Simon his "Christian name" of Cephas / Peter (meaning Rock).

Franciscan Friary Hall, Peckham
The hall, on Bird-in-Bush Road, is a simple brick church hall attached to the Catholic church and Friary, but has quite an attractive pedimented front. The date stone on the front is AD 1937.

Friary Road, Peckham
Looking south along Friary Road from its junction with Bird-in-Bush Road. The angled corner of no. 55 suggests that it may have been a corner shop originally. For the buildings that gave the road its name see Image looking in the opposite direction from the same junction.

Our Lady of Sorrows, Bird in Bush Road
What might be termed a muscular example of Victorian church architecture. Not exactly attractive, but not without interest, and designed by Edward Welby Pugin (son of Augustus) in 1864-66. Grade II listed.

Peckham Park Road Baptist Chapel
A church was built on this site in 1861/2. The plinth and foundation stone were originally part of Old Westminster Bridge, and can still be seen although the chapel was partly rebuilt in 1951 after war damage. Source: http://www.peckhamhistory.org.uk/churchesBap.htm
