New Cross Gate station, 2005
View northward from New Cross Road towards London Bridge on the ex-LB&SCR Brighton main line, also - to the right at this date - the London Underground East London line to Whitechapel and Shoreditch. The latter was subsequently closed 22/12/07 for upgrading, being reopened 22/4/10 by London Overground, running through from West Croydon and using the platforms to the left.

The 'Hobgoblin', New Cross
Almost opposite New Cross Gate station (LBSCR). The former name of this pub. was The Rose. Now it sells real ale from Wychwood Brewery - very good beer.

New Cross: New Cross Gate station, LBSC
Looking from the road overbridge on New Cross Road, this shows the east side of the station, with the platform used until 2007 by London Transport trains, which terminated here, thus arriving at, and departing from, the same platform. From next month, these trains on the East London line will be continuing south from here to serve West Croydon and Crystal Palace alternately, so presumably this will become the Down platform for the East London line.
