Railway passing the Arnold Estate
The buildings ahead are blocks of flats, I think of four storeys, though because the railway line is raised, only the top floor can be seen. The estate has something of a reputation for gang-related activity, but I do not know whether it is now justified. Further ahead are the buildings of the City.

Viaduct, Druid Road
Prodigiously long viaduct just outside London Bridge station built for the London and Greenwich Railway in 1833-36 by G. Landmann. Grade II listed. The arches are now used for small businesses, mostly car-related. Further away is some glass skyscraper.

Repainted railway bridge
The bridge carries the tracks out of London Bridge station over Abbey Street – the nearer ones (the Southeastern lines) on a relatively modern steel span, and the further ones (the Southern lines) on an older brick arch. The road had been closed earlier in the year while the bridge was refurbished. Network Rail did not take the chance to update the height restriction sign in the foreground with metric measures (15 ft is 4.57 metres).
