Boris's Bicycles
London mayor Boris Johnson wants to see Londoners and visitors using the new bicycles which are parked in racks around the capital. This one is at Union Street, Southwark but no-one seemed to be taking up the challenge. This rack was full of bikes. Elsewhere in the City the idea is catching on.

Barclay and Fry building
This former factory building on Great Guildford Street bears the legend "Barclay & Fry Ld. Printers, stationers & Tin Box Makers".
Historical note: Barclay & Fry produced offset lithography items including decorated tins for tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes etc. from 1889 to 1941.

Construction site, Union Street SE1
This site has been vacant for as long as I can remember, sometimes hosting pop-up beaches and the like. But the concrete is now going in for a new office block and depriving the residents of the adjacent apartments of their balcony view.
