View of A Slice of Reality from the Thames Path
A Slice of Reality is a sculpture made by Richard Wilson (not the actor famous for playing Victor Meldrew in One Foot in the Grave, but a sculptor) constructed as part of the area's redevelopment work following the construction of the O2. It is a sliced vertical cross-section of an old sand dredger.

A Slice of Reality
A Slice of Reality is a sliced vertical section of an ocean going sand dredger, standing on the foreshore of the Thames. It was created at the same time as the Millennium Dome and is exposed to the elements. It is possible to actually visit it on Open House Day. The towers of Canary Wharf provide a suitably dramatic backdrop across the Thames.

Planted reed bed on the Thames river bank
As elsewhere around the Greenwich Peninsula, reed beds have been planted in a way that they are flooded at high tide and give a slightly more 'natural' feel to the otherwise solid concrete river wall. The idea can be clearly seen here. Beyond is the sliced ship 'A Slice of Reality', see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2358131 Across the river are exciting views of Canary Wharf and its attendant office blocks.
