Pownd Penllergaer Pond
Pownd a fu unwaith yn cyflenwi dwr i Lofa Garn Goch ond fe dagwyd y llyn gan dyfiant wedi blynyddoedd o esgeulustod. Ar ol glanhau ac adnewyddu'r safle mae'r llyn bellach yn gyrchfan i bysgotwyr a cherddwyr.
After years of neglect the pond, which formerly supplied water to Garn Goch Colliery, had become choked and overrun by invasive plants species. However, after being cleared and rejuvenated the site is now popular with both anglers and walkers alike.

Penllergaer Pond
It's a nice sunny afternoon and the lilly pads are adding a touch of colour. A number of swallows/swifts are putting on a good show as they dart and loop around to catch insects but I don't know how much this is amusing the nearby angler.

Gate on Mountain Road, Penllergaer
This is as far as public vehicles can travel along mountain road. The gate allowing cars to drive onto the common is locked. The lane is also a public footpath so feel free to push on past the bushes and walk on.

Model Aircraft Runways on Garn Goch Common
As opposed to the undrained tussocks or unmanaged scrub that surrounds it this site of the demolished Garn Goch colliery is reasonably smooth and flat. A local model aircraft club leases the land from the council and keeps the surface in good order. This area and the surrounding heath is common land.
