Birthplace of Dylan Thomas in Swansea
A blue plaque on the wall of 5 Cwmdonkin Drive on the right marks the birthplace (on October 27th 1914) of Welsh poet and writer Dylan Thomas. Known for his hard-drinking, heavy smoking, unhealthy lifestyle in later life, less well known is that Dylan Thomas was a talented athlete in his youth. At the age of 14 he was the winner of the Swansea Mile during Swansea Grammar School's annual sports day in 1928. It may be that walking and running up the steep hills hereabouts, such as Cwmdonkin Drive, helped develop his leg muscles.

Cwmdonkin Drive with feline resident
This is still a quiet, 'tidy' residential street above Uplands that seems to have changed very little since Dylan Thomas lived here with his parents. [This image was used by Literature Wales in their 2014 Dylan Thomas centenary promotion brochure.]

Cwmdonkin Drive
A late autumn evening view towards Brynmill and Oystermouth. The North Devon coast is visible across the Bristol Channel in the far distance. The famous poet Dylan Thomas was born in and grew up in a house just off-camera to the left. He no doubt enjoyed the view from here many times.

King George V postbox on a corner in Swansea
Located here, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4091844 on the corner of Cwmdonkin Terrace and Cwmdonkin Drive. The letters GR date the box to the reign of King George V (May 1910-January 1936). The postboxes of the reign of his son King George VI (December 1936-February 1952) have a more ornate style of lettering and the Roman numerals VI. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3297590 Postboxes bearing the identifier of the uncrowned King Edward VIII http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3930838 are very rare.
