Krupps Thyssen factory
A huge building but strangely enough, it became invisible to the inhabitants of the area!

Views from the 'horses field'
As distinguished by us as children from the surrounding fields as this one ALWAYS had horses. The grey building in the middle distance is Bryngwyn Comprehensive School, opened early in 1977 to house us Grammar School girls after our old school had burned down in an arson attack some time before. We called it home for a year before returning to our old school which was soon to become Coedcae Comprehensive.

Down Pennant hill, looking at Krupps Thyssen factory (once Fisher and Ludlow)
Situated on the eastern edge of Swiss Valley, this sprawling housing estate built in the 1960's and 1970's used to have a huge number of children playing in its roads. Now there are OAP's. Their families grown up and gone but most of the original occupants stayed. A good place to grow up.

Childhood playground
I'm pleased to see that there are still horses here thirty odd years later. (Indeed, I'm just glad that the field is still here!). I still expected the old farmer from the farmhouse in the distance to come and chase me out of his field!

At the end of Llethri Road
I always thought the farm here was very old but it doesn't appear on the 1940's old map. The farm known as Glyngwernan Uchaf is on the top of the hill and has panoramic views all around. In the trees at about (3 o'clock in the photo) is a disused quarry. It was a very scary place for children to play as it had a very eerie atmosphere and dangerous steep sides falling into deep black water below. We still played there - it had the best blackberry bushes for miles around!

More childhood playground
The old Fisher and Ludlow car factory just visible. A big employer in a rural area of Llanelli.
