Up local freight passing Port Talbot with an LMS-type locomotive
View NW, towards Neath, Swansea etc.: ex-GW South Wales main line. The sight of an LMS-type locomotive on the ex-GWR down that way was unusual: a few of these 2-6-4Ts were transferred from the LMR to the WR in South Wales for a year or two only. Fairburn 4MT No. 42182 seen here was built in 12/48 and withdrawn in 4/63.

Port Talbot Parkway railway station, Glamorgan
Opened in 1850 by the South Wales Railway, later part of the Great Western Railway, on the line from Cardiff to Swansea. View south east towards Pyle and Cardiff. In the past it had been variously names 'Port Talbot & Aberavon' and 'Port Talbot General'. A new footbridge with lifts and booking office was constructed in 2015.

New Port Talbot Parkway Station
This station has recently been rebuilt to include lifts for access to the platforms. Its shape does seem rather strange and difficult to make out. The Welsh word "Parcffordd" on top of the station building stands for Parkway. For SatNav purposes, its postcode is SA13 1SA.

A T1C bus at Port Talbot Parkway
Running under the TrawsCymru banner, the T1C service operates one daily round trip from Aberystwyth to Cardiff and various other points en-route. The complete journey is about 3½ hrs - half hour less than the tedious rail journey via Shrewsbury.
