Bears of Sheffield: #50 Miami Moderne Bear
#50 of 61 big bear sculptures, this one was decorated by Jenny Steele and is located outside Sheffield Arena. The design was inspired by the artist’s trips to visit the ‘art deco’ architecture of Miami Beach, Florida. The Bear features a myriad of decorative patterns painted in tropical colours on the building façades.

Show of sympathy, respect and solidarity
This ice hockey match at Sheffield Arena between Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers took place just 48 hours after the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people. Before the game commenced this show of respect was marked by the display of the French Tricolour on the scoreboard, the 6,000+ crowd observing a minute's silence and the playing of La Marseillaise in place of the usual British National Anthem.
