Huskar Community Rooms, Silkstone
Keeping alive memories of the Huskar Pit where 26 children aged from 7 to 17 drowned in a disaster in 1838, 11 of them girls. That led to the Mines Act of 1842 which prohibited girls and boys under the age of ten from working underground.
