The Furnace Inn and Milton Pond
The pond is one of a series created in the valley to provide water for the ironworks which gave the pub its name. The ironworks were sited across the road to the right.

The Furnace Inn
The name of the pub is a clue to the former use of this area, which was the site of the Milton Ironworks. The ironworks closed in 1884.
