Western bridge parapet, Station Road, Little Lewden
The Worsbrough branch of the Dearne & Dove Canal went under here. The road has a characteristic double bend. The other parapet has disappeared, as has the canal.

7.5 kms to Silkstone Common
Milepost on the Trans Pennine / Dove Valley trail, near Lower Lewdon. This path was built as a railway to Silkstone Moor End, and later became part of the electrified Woodhead line, closing in 1981.

Alders coming into flower add a touch of colour to woodland alongside the Dove Valley Trail. Nature is slowly reclaiming a landscape once criss-crossed by railways largely associated with the coal industry.
