In its unfinished form, this building is almost a work of art in its own right. Looking at Google Earth, it appears to have reached this stage by about 2009, then abandoned.

Barnsley Cooperative building, New Street facade
This view shows the full range of the cast iron facade on this face of the building, stretching to 10 bays. Note the filigree decoration of the parapet railings, the ornate ventilators behind this, and the prominent water tank with the letter H. Built approx 1886, Listed Grade II.
