Sheffield Supertram No. 102 arriving at Malin Bridge terminus
The tram has just turned off Holmes Lane to enter the terminal stop, which is in Loxley New Road. The tram is one of 25 built by Duewag in Germany in 1993, which comprise the complete operational fleet of the system. The system's passenger numbers have increased significantly, and another four trams are to be obtained in the next few years. Image

Sheffield Supertram No. 101 at Malin Bridge terminus
Tram No. 101 has just arrived at the Malin Bridge terminus. Sheffield's trams remain amongst the most comfortable and impressive of all the new generation trams running in the UK. They are also the most powerful, as they have to contend with Sheffield's many hills. This tram is in the second and current (2009) livery used by Stagecoach, who operate the system. Prior to Stagecoach taking over the system, all the trams were in a rather drab two-tone greyish livery. At that time this vehicle was numbered 01.

Sheffield supertram approaching Malin Bridge terminus
This shows the latest Stagecoach livery for Supertram for comparison with Stephen McKay's photo Image taken 10 years earlier which shows the original livery. There appear to be differences of opinion regarding the spelling of Malin Bridge. Despite the OS map, I have always seen it as two words! (But I am not local to the area)

End of the Malin Bridge tramline, Loxley New Road
Originally this branch was planned to reach as far as Stannington, but local opposition in that area was so strong that instead the line was terminated at Malin Bridge. The branch travels along Holme Lane and then swings off that road into Loxley New Road, where the branch's only stop, Malin Bridge, has been placed. The line carries on a few feet beyond the tram stop to end here. Presumably if the line had gone to Stannington, it would have continued along Holme Lane instead.
