Bleak House, Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield
Nothing to do with Charles Dickens ... or is it? Situated almost opposite the Hillsborough Park Lodge and featured on many post cards of the Hillsborough area. Built in the early 1900's when the original Sheffield Trams 'rattled past' on their way out to the Middlewood Terminus. The current Sheffield Supertrams now 'glide past' on their way to the Yellow Route's Park'n'Ride (also) at Middlewood, powered by the overhead 'lines' running across the top of the picture. 'Big' Houses on Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield
This fine terrace of 'big' houses is situated opposite Hillsborough Park ... the bowling greens are visible in the foreground ... not very far from Hillsborough Hall. Follow this link for information about the land on which these houses were built http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_House The nearest house is now 'home' to an Acupuncture Clinic and a Dental Practice. I've entered the 'address' as Hillsborough, but, as can be seen, the sign for Hillsborough is situated half way along the terrace ... the other section would be in Middlewood!
