Hall Farm
A relic of Goldthorpe's agricultural past. The farmhouse (in the centre of the picture) is much altered and the stone built farm buildings are no longer in agricultural use.

Course of the former Dearne Valley Railway
The Dearne Valley Railway was a relatively late arrival in the South Yorkshire coalfield though at a time when mining was moving further east. The railway was nominally independent but in its early years was operated by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. The complete line was opened by 1909 initially with freight services only. A limited passenger service started in 1912 but lasted only until 1951.
