Roman Ridge is unlikely to be Roman. It could be of Iron Age origin or date from medieval times. It is likely that it is some form of boundary.

Former deer enclosure
In the deer park at Wentworth Woodhouse. There was one iron pillar still standing in the enclosure presumably to support some roofing for a shelter.
