I don't know which apple variety of apple this is, but it's an old one. Still quite a small tree and found on north side of the towpath opposite the windpump.

Wind pump
This reminded my partner of when she lived in Australia. This pump is on the south side of the South Yorks and Tinsley canal, so definitely NOT in Australia. I presume its there to drain water from the adjoining fields and pump it back into the canal.

Wind-pump on a wet day
The wind-pump at Blackburn Meadows Nature Reserve draws water from the New Cut of the South Yorkshire Navigations, for the wetland nature reserve. It also pumps excess methane from the bottom of the adjacent pond.
