Station Building - 3, Blackburn Road, Low Wincobank
The other (platform) side of this building is identical in design to this side. As usual with Railway Buildings of this age, the detail and intricacy of the gable ends and such, is fantastic. Image Image

Meadow Hall & Wincobank railway station (site), Yorkshire
Opened in 1868 by the Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway on its 'Blackburn Valley' line from Sheffield Victoria to Barnsley, this station closed to passengers in 1953. View north towards Grange Lane and Barnsley. The buildings were in need of some TLC when this image was taken.

The Railway Pub dominates this picture ... not sure why the wall in front of it is built in that style. Fife Street runs off to the right opposite the pub. The M1, close to J34, can (just) be seen in the background. The station from 'the railway' is just behind the photographer. Image Image Image

Station Building - 1, Blackburn Road, Low Wincobank
This superb 'old' station building was owned and run by the Great Central Railway way back in the late 1800's / early 1900's. The actual railway no longer exists but the route of the track can be followed as a footpath. The building is in use as offices. The station masters house is at the 'near end' the platform building is at the 'far end' of this picture. Image Image
