Goddard Hall, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
Goddard Hall pre-dates the Sheffield Union Workhouse and (I believe) some of its grounds were bought to build the Workhouse on. In the 1880's it was used as part of the Children's Homes complex to the south of the main site - but still within the Boundary Walls. At one stage it was used for training some of the boys in tailoring. Image

Another view of the Herries Road entrance to the Hospital ... Herries Road is on the right of the picture. The 'house' contains administrative functions but may have been used as living accommodation for a Hospital Manager or Caretaker at one time.

Herries Road Lodge, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
This building near to the Herries Road entrance was originally a Security Lodge where visitors would report. Note the Hospital Sign in the side wall. When it was no longer required for security one half was used as a Flower Shop and (I think) the other half for Newspapers and General Goods useful for visitors to buy for patients. Currently it is disused and 'To Let.' The house partly seen on the left is described in a separate picture. Image Image
