Class A1 60163 Tornado, Barrow Hill
The locomotive is just about to leave the yard through the gates. There is only a short stretch of track beyond the gates and very little behind it in the yard, but enough to get a far turn of speed. The yard has access to the Sheffield to Chesterfield line, at the south. I wonder if the young girl in the carriage knows that the steam locomotive is younger than her.

Peckett 2000 Saddle Tank, Barrow Hill
This locomotive at the rear of the shuttle train just happens to be the same age as me. It was built in 1942 and worked for the British Sugar Corporation factory at Sproughton, Ipswich. Peckett is, Peckett & Sons Ltd, Atlas Locomotive Works, St George, Bristol. The 2000 refers to the works number. The train is about to leave the yard via the gates.

Roundhouse, Barrow Hill
Class A4 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley as seen from the rear. The streamlined tender, which holds both coal and water, has a corridor allowing her crew to be changed over whilst the locomotive is progressing on a long distance run. Note the two and three deep photographers. This locomotive still has pulling power both in admiration and hauling power.
