Brimington Social Club
The Brimington Club started in 1903 as ”Brimington’s new institute,” donated to the parish by Charles P. Markham (A director of Staveley Coal & Iron Company) who purchased it for the sum of £1200. The brick & corrugated iron building had a billiard room, library,reading room, bar , kitchen and a bedroom for the steward. Over the years the building has gone through many transformations bringing it up to its current status.” The Brimington Social Club”. as it is now known, boasts a large Concert Room with stage and a seating capacity of 250, a generous Tap Room with TWO pool tables, dart board an area for cards and dominoes , THREE 42″ television sets, slot machines and a quiz machine. A large “L” shaped bar which carries a good selection of draught beers and lagers backed up by a wide range of bottled products, services all rooms. There is a large secure car park with CCTV and a covered heated smoking area.
