Station Back Lane, Chesterfield, Derbys.
There is no vehicular access behind the photographer from this quiet lane into St Mary's Gate (i.e. out onto the busy B6543 road). The corner of the building on the right is part of a late C15th house that was once the home of a rich and influential local family - the Heathcotes - in the C17th. The business premises in the distance, located in what was once the home of "The Derbyshire Times" newspaper, are now occupied by the Heathcotes Group, who are specialists in the provision of residential care for adults with learning disabilities.

Stephenson Memorial Hall
Now the home to Chesterfield Museum. A nice local museum with a treadmill crane from inside the crooked spire and a little steam engine by the now closed company of Markham.
