This field is the site of the Penistone Agricultural Show. On a Saturday in September,over 20,000 people descend for the annual event.

Woodhead railway line, winter 1981
Two unidentified class 76 electric locomotives hauling a train of mineral wagons towards Penistone. The line was being run down and closed completely 6 months later on 18 July 1981.
