Mission Hall, Bamforth Street, Hillsborough
The former Mission Hall is now being used as a manufacturing unit for Traditional Joinery. Low down around the walls are a number of stones plaques with inscriptions such as ... James W Lee, Penistone Road Mission : Mr A Simpkin, Lay Preachers Association : Mr W Turton, Townhead St Trustee : Mrs A E Bowles, Sheffield : Mrs S Sharp, Morley : Mr J Wolfenden, Morecambe. Presumably these people were benefactors and / or trustees of the mission. Shame most of them have been graffitified! Image Image

High House (or Dearden's) Brewery, Burton Street, Hillsborough
These derelict buildings were part of a brewery on Burton Street, known by some as High House Brewery and by others as Dearden's Brewery. I understand that they were situated in the back yard of a building called High House which fronted onto Penistone Road, hence the link to at least one of the names.
