Footpath Closed, Stockarth Lane, Middlewood
The other end of the footpath, which 'cuts off' a good section of road, exits onto Middlewood Road North where the road is closed because of extensive flood repair work. This sign will hopefully save a wasted walk down the path to find it closed at the other end.

Air Raid Shelter just off Stockarth Lane
Although 'abandoned' this shelter is in fair condition, including some inner walls visible from the entrance (but not in the picture). Probably used for shelter by farm workers working in fields. Stockarth Lane is not far from where the South Yorkshire Asylum (latterly Middlewood Hospital) was located, so the shelter may be associated with that, as many wounded soldiers were billeted there during WW2. A second shelter in Stockarth Lane is also featured, see Image

Fallen Tree outside Middlewood Grange
When this picture was taken most of the tree had been removed but the damage to the wall gives an indication of its size.

'Old' Railway Carriage used as Farm Building
Situated in the corner of a field off Stockarth Lane. These 'old' railway carriages (or more correctly Goods Wagons) are often found in fields and were purchased (probably cheaply as obsolete) for use as outbuildings. I don't recall seeing one still in use ... they are usually very dilapidated.

View from Worrall Road over Middlewood to Beeley Wood
The farmhouse in the foreground is Hawthorn House, with houses in Rowborn Drive, off Stockarth Lane, immediately behind. The chimneys and factory units, in the background are situated on Beeley Wood Industrial Estate on the far side of the River Don, which flows from left to right within the line of trees.
