Jarvill's Dam, behind Church Street, Oughtibridge - 2
The water from Jarvill's Dam was used to power the Water Wheel at Jarvill's Mill which was situated to the right of this view. The Mill has long gone but the Dam remains as a haven for local wildlife and is a regular fishing place for the local Herons ... they know it as MacJarvill's ... see ... Image The Mill is filled by Coumes Brook which flows from the hills above Oughtibridge, past the Dam and then after a couple of hundred metres into the River Don in Oughtibridge centre ... see ... Tour de France in Oughtibridge ... 12 Months To Go! ... Looking up Church Street, Oughtibridge
On the 6th July 2014, Stage 2 of the Tour de France will be passing through Oughtibridge. They will appear from the top of Church Street, pass this spot, and proceed down the street to and through the Village Centre (via Bridge Hill) and carry on over Oughty's Bridge, past the Coronation Park, and up Station Lane and Jawbone Hill towards Grenoside and eventually to the finish in Sheffield.
