Station Lane Terrace, Oughtibridge
I believe that the house on the left was originally for use by the Station Master; the station being opposite this terrace. I also believe that the end house on the right was originally the Station Inn Public House, where there was dancing 'on the boards' in the garden on a Saturday night.

Oughtibridge Railway Station
This building replaced the original small station building, shown in separate pictures. It has now been demolished (sadly) and new houses built on the site. Despite being a bland building, without much character, it should, in my opinion, have been saved even as part of a new house. When this picture was taken the building was being used as a builder's store.

Station Lane, Oughtibridge
This road, leading from the main road (also confusingly called Station Lane) to the site of the former Oughty Bridge Station, is a mixture of housing styles, types and ages. The first terraced section, shown in the foreground, would have been built at about the time the Railway came to Oughtibridge in the mid 1840s. There is then a block of three semi-detached dormer bungalows from the 1960s, then a large detached house which looks 1920/30ish, then another terraced block from the 1850s. This block contains what was originally the Station Master's House and the Station Inn. Opposite all of these are new houses built in 2007. However all of these different buildings seem to sit well together.

Converted Railway Station, Station Lane, Oughtibridge
This house has been converted from the original Oughtibridge Railway Station ... see separate pictures. The railway line, now unused apart from an infrequent goods train to Stocksbridge Steel Works, runs behind the building from left to right.

Oughty Bridge railway station (site)
Opened in 1845 by the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway on the line from Penistone to Sheffield Victoria, this station closed in 1959. View north towards Deepcar and Penistone. The building is now in private occupation.
The nearby settlement is, however, spelled 'Oughtibridge'.

Oughtibridge Railway Station
This view shows some detail of the, now demolished, building. When in use the colours would (surely) have been more muted!
