Woodland Path in Kiveton Community Woodland
. Kiveton Community Woodland stands on the site of the old Kiveton Park Colliery, having being transformed into a mini country park following the closure of the colliery in 1994. The whole area, including the spoil heap (the pit tip), has now been tastefully landscaped, with areas of woodland, wetland and grassland, and includes several miles of footpaths for walking.

The Old Colliery Offices at Dusk
Kiveton Park, South Yorkshire Built in 1869 , the Old Colliery Offices were built to provide offices for the new Kiveton Park Colliery, but also served for a time as a school – the first in the village – before being taken over by the mining company. In return, the company agreed to build a new school on Station Road, which still stands today but is now the Community Youth Centre. Taking on an almost sinister appearance at dusk, the Old Colliery Offices have a unique architectural style complete with Gothic clock tower, the clock itself still in possession of its original workings and still keeping correct time. Kiveton Park Colliery closed in 1994 and the offices are now all that remain of the pit, having been granted Grade II Listed status in October 1986.

Kiveton Community Woodlands - Chesterfield Canal
This is quite an interesting image as it shows, due to flooding, what this area may look like if the Chesterfield Canal, which is carried by the Norwood Tunnel under Kiveton Community Woodlands, is opened up. The area that is flooded is a cutting that was specifically created to carry the course of the newly opened canal should the project ever make it from the drawing board. Map of the proposed route can be found here http://rojerb.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/d.png

This is a view of the pithead baths built 1938 & appears to be all that remains of the former colliery which first raised coal in December 1867 and ceased production in 1994.
